More than clean
Your anus is attached to your body’s largest organ, the colon,
which, if stretched out, would be anywhere from five to seven
feet long. Before you get grossed out and flip the page, remember
that celebs like Madonna, Janet Jackson and
Dr Oz have made colon conversations a hot
topic. Is it now fashionable to look in the
toilet before you flush? Yes! Here’s the poop
scoop, according to the people who sell colon-health products: no matter how hard you work out, you can still
carry between five to 25 pounds of colon plaque.
There are real benefits to keeping a clean shoot. You’ll feel more
alert and lighter — many people drop weight dramatically,
depending on their diet. To help get you thinking clean I asked
some experts in the field for the hard facts about clean colons.
Remember, it’s important to consult a medical professional before
undertaking any type of cleansing program.
Toronto Colon Hydro Care Spa
For some gay men, colon cleansing has negative connotations and
conjures up douching videos and porn they’ve seen on the web.
The actual experience is far from fetish in nature and is designed
to be pleasant. Marla Roe, the owner of Toronto Colon Hydro
Care, near Yonge and St Clair, says colon cleansing is more than
just shooting water up your bum.
Max MacDonald: How does colon cleansing differ from
douching?
Marla Roe: It’s about improving your general health. You have to
remember that everything you eat leaves a trace in your body.
Most typical douches only get the six to eight inches of the bowel.
We use about 12 to 16 gallons of water per person, which flows
into the body slowly and gently during a session that lasts about
40 minutes. A typical douche only takes 15 minutes.
MM: Does it hurt having that much water put into you?
MR: Not at all. It’s very gentle, and once the flow starts you won’t
even feel it. You only feel a sensation once your body starts to
need to release.
Sessions start at $100 and various packages are offered.

CleanseSmart
For those looking for an alternative method,
Renew Life has a cleanse that comes in pill
form called CleanseSmart. It is a 30-day
cleanse in a box and it’s very simple to use.
You take two pills in the morning, along
with fibre and oil caplets, and two in the
evening. I’ve used this product for years, so I
contacted Caroline Farquhar, director of education for Renew Life
Canada, to ask her why CleanseSmart stands out.
Max MacDonald: Why use Renew Life over other methods?
Caroline Farquhar: Renew Life cleanses really work, and we have
a customer-support team that you can call if you ever have any
questions. CleanseSmart is a 30-day, all-natural, full-body herbal
cleansing program that is formulated to stimulate the cleansing
and detoxification process of the body’s seven channels of
elimination. These include the liver, lungs, colon, kidneys, blood,
skin and lymphatic system.
